Overview
This chapel is a remarkable ancient monument and is under the care of the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus. It consists of the Holy Step, the nave and the narthex. It has a pointed tiled roof like almost all the Byzantine chapels of the village and preserves a large number of frescoes of the 16th century. Unfortunately, the south wall of the church collapsed due to poor maintenance and the frescoes that adorned it were destroyed with it. Today we can admire the "Dramatic Crucifixion" in the western pediment and the arch of the Holy Step of the Theotokos between the archangels. On the north wall there are zones with Saints such as Saints Bechianos, Peter and Paul, Anthony and Sava, St. Barbara and St. Paraskevi. The pilgrimage icon of Saints Andronicus and Athanasia (13th-14th century), which was stolen in 1936 and was found in New York after 70 years, is one of the treasures of the iconostasis. The church is celebrated on the 9th of October.
